Welcome to the Middle School

Founders’ Hall is the main Middle School campus for Years 5-7. It is located on Molle Street in Hobart, opposite the Senior School. Year 8 can be found in the newly renovated Tremayne building on our Senior School Campus.

Designed for the learning needs of young adolescents between 10 to 14 years of age, the Middle School delivers a supportive environment which acknowledges the change and growth associated with this time of development.

Student Development

Throughout their Middle School journey, students are encouraged to become less reliant on the direct support of teachers and parents, who then begin to take on a more adult, mentoring relationship with their girls.

In the Middle School students begin to control and understand how to self-regulate their social, emotional, spiritual, physical and intellectual interests.

We encourage the further development of innovation, imagination, inquiry skills and the capacity to take a chance.

Students develop key skills in teamwork, communication, problem-solving, empathy, gratitude and respect for all.

Increased personal responsibility, taking and using initiative and learning to lead is also central to the Middle School experience.

Our Learning

The Middle School program is aligned with the Australian Curriculum and offers the core subjects of English, History, Geography, Mathematics and Science.  All year groups also take part in Faith and Life, Health and Physical Education, LOTE and an increasing number of electives in the Expressive Arts or Project Based Learning areas. All subjects are led by specialist teachers who have a genuine passion for their learning area.

Students are able to choose from a wide range of co-curricular activities including music, art, dance, drama, sport, debating and public speaking, clubs and EDGE.

We support our students to strive for their personal best in all areas of their development.
