Reconciliation Action Plan
St Michael’s Collegiate is endorsed by Reconciliation Australia’s Narragunnawali program for our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
This program supports all schools in Australia to foster a higher level of knowledge and pride in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contributions. The process has involved consultation with a range of people from our Collegiate community, including students, staff and parents, with a strong indigenous voice at the centre of our planning. This approval is only the beginning as we continue to implement, monitor and review our goals annually.
As a school community, we aim to:
- Reflect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage in our school’s environment;
- Establish and maintain relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and organisations; and
- Ensure that the school curriculum uses language and content which acknowledges the truth, as told by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, in our ancient, colonial and modern history.
