Reconciliation Action Plan

St Michael’s Collegiate is endorsed by Reconciliation Australia’s Narragunnawali program for our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

This program supports all schools in Australia to foster a higher level of knowledge and pride in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contributions. The process has involved consultation with a range of people from our Collegiate community, including students, staff and parents, with a strong indigenous voice at the centre of our planning. This approval is only the beginning as we continue to implement, monitor and review our goals annually.

St Michael’s Collegiate School is committed to recognising the significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and traditions. Our future is committed to reinforcing the values of inclusion, respect and diversity in all our actions through the process of reconciliation and empowerment. We acknowledge the muwinina people as the first inhabitants of nipaluna, the land on which our school stands.

St Michael’s Collegiate Vision Statement

As a school community, we aim to:

  • Reflect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage in our school’s environment;
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and organisations; and
  • Ensure that the school curriculum uses language and content which acknowledges the truth, as told by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, in our ancient, colonial and modern history.
