National Reconciliation Week in Prep

To mark National Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week, our Prep students have been working on many activities with a focus on the artwork and literature of our First Nations People.

Students have enjoyed listening to stories from authors such as, Bronwyn Bancroft and Arone Meeks, and using their illustrations as inspiration for their own artworks. Students have also discussed the meaning of National Sorry Day and the need for social responsibility.

Prep students have also learnt about yarning circles. A yarning circle is a harmonious, creative and collaborative way of communicating (to have a ‘yarn’), often used in indigenous culture.

Students have designed and sewn their own cushions to use during their own class discussions. They have also been learning a traditional Yorta Yorta Lullaby, which we look forward to sharing during Assembly next week.
